Speakers Bureau
The Speakers Bureau is a panel of people from all ages and backgrounds. Their experiences and personality are inspiring and captivating.
Mary Taylor
At the age of 75, great grandmother Mary Taylor prepared for her first expedition driving solo around Australia. Sixteen years later and Mary still enjoys her regular adventures around the country in her Honda Jazz with a carton of baked beans and a flagon of sherry. Why does she do it? ...well as she says in her autobiography "Baked Beans in the Outback and Curry in Kashmir""my trips represent the last opportunity for adventure available in my old age." Mary has lead rather a nomadic life as the wife of a British Officer who served with the Indian Army.....and has enjoyed plenty of adventure. Like the time she was seriously propositioned over a hamburger at McDonalds in Cairns or seriously intoxicated at 9 o'clock in the morning in Alice Springs! Mary Taylor is a lady of enormous determination & courage - with an opinion on everything....... and a wicked sense of humour! She is proof positive that life begins at 90!
Jeremy Portelli
You're just 13 years of age and drinking lots of booze and on a regular basis. Drugs creep into the routine and naturally so do the "undesirables" who come along as part of the package. The world seems to be stuffed - everyone else has a problem......except you. Well that's how Jeremy Portelli viewed the first part of his young life. In his eyes, it was everyone around him who was out of step. He had just entered into his teenage years with a serious booze and drugs problem, and was destined to fail. So how do you get your life back on track when it seems like there's no turning back and no-one really cares? Jeremy Portelli is just 19 - built like the proverbial brick outhouse, and likes his tattoos! But on the inside he's got a heart of gold...... and his story is dynamic.
Sam Almaliki
Born in Basra, Iraq in 1989, Sam Almaliki migrated to Australia with his parents eight years later where they spent almost a year in the Villawood Detention Centre before eventually being released. And here is the twist.....in spite of having no real grasp of the English language to begin with, Sam quickly made exceptional progress with his education. He achieved a UAI of 92.5 in 2006 and was Kogarah Council's 2007 Young Australian of the Year. At just 19 years of age, Sam Almaliki is a born leader and passionate about making a difference. Let him excite your team!

Nearly 60 years later the JDW Empire continues to expand with Miss Dally taking her expertise into Asia. But who is June Dally-Watkins? How did the girl from the bush become the queen of the catwalk? And what of those Hollywood romances? All is revealed when we get up close and personal with Miss June Dally-Watkins.
Craig Stevens
Olympian Craig Styevens is probably best remembered for the ultimate act of being a 'good sport' when he stood down from the 400m freestyle at the 2004 Athens Olympics to let his mate Ian Thorpe compete in the signature event from which he'd just been disqualified after a false start. Thorpie went on to win gold and Stevo was regarded as a true national hero for his selfless action. But there is so much more to the Commonwealth and Olympic medallist. Stevo is a true Aussie champion and motivating speaker who leaves the audience feeling good about life.
Cheryl Koenig
When Jonathan Koenig was 12 years old he was involved in an horrific car accident, his mother Cheryl's life changed forever.Given very little chance of survival, Jono was in a coma for six weeks and doctors predicted that even if he did pull through he would most likely never walk, talk or be able to eat again. But Cheryl and her husband Robert refused to accept the prognosis and set out on a relentless and ultimately successful quest to save Jonathon and prove the medical profession wrong. Ten years on and Jono has defied the odds, leading a rich and fulfilling life. Cheryl tells a truly an inspirational and uplifting story about how persistence, determination, family and love can combine to overcome almost any challenge. She knows no boundaries.
Marcella Zemanek
Stan Zemanek was known as "the King of Night Time radio" or by his own admission as the most hated presenter on talkback radio. He enjoyed extraordinary success in radio and television - the ultimate & longest serving beast in Beauty and the Beast on Foxtel. And like most showbiz partnerships there was always someone else involved behind the scenes. Someone with whom he would party, relax, holiday, or just simply sit and talk. But when diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour in 2006, it was time for Stan to take a back seat and let the love of his life, Marcella - the child bride as he referred to her - come to the fore. Life changed as the battle began in ernest to fight Stan's brain cancer, which was ultimately lost in July 2007. Marcella is now an Ambassador for Dr Charlie Teo's "Cure For Life Foundation" and tells a fabulous story of life with Stan...the good, the bad and the downright ugly!
Sabina Wolanski
A Holocaust survivor who migrated to Australia and became a successful business person, Sabina Wolanski is an amazing woman who was just 12 years old when her home town in Poland was invaded by the Nazis and her mother was ripped away to a death camp. She spent the Holocaust years like an 'elusive animal' in terror - hunted by the Nazis and hidden by different families, often underground, in cellars, in the forest - in places where one would never think to look for a human. Somehow she survived. When she was called to give evidence at the 1967 trial of the man responsible for the deaths of her father and brother, Sabina wanted revenge......but instead made a life long friend of the German daughter of an SS officer. In 2005 Sabina Wolanski was singled out by the German Government to speak on behalf of the six million dead at the opening of the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin. Sabina's tale of survival and her dogged determination to overcome adversity and ultimately achieve great success is a reality check of the highest order for us all.
